Hello! My name is Ashqelynn. Project Leader. Storyteller. Strategist.

I was born and raised in Missouri City, Texas, just outside of Houston. I was always a curious child, but what sparked my interest in production was my time in marching band. Our band was invited to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day Parade. Watching the show come together behind the scenes, fueled my passion in television.
After working as a news producer at different affiliates in Texas, I got the chance to move to DC/MD/VA area. I joined the team at News One Now with Roland Martin as a segment producer for TV One. I fell in love with the area and took my career to the next level. I was the Supervising Producer for the nationally-syndicated show Matter of Fact with Soledad O'Brien for five seasons before we wrapped in August 2025.
I now reside in Columbus, Ohio with my husband and stepson. I am learning a new city and the communities that shape it by staying open to opportunities.
I am an award-winning creative media producer based in Columbus, Ohio. I lead the creative process by writing and editing copy, producing and post-production.
I pride myself in being the connector. I build bridges between teams to guide the end-to-end production process with clear, concise communication.
I'm a detail-oriented, deadline-driven, growth-minded content creator who believes in delivering quality storytelling to audiences. I work closely with clients to understand their needs and preferences and deliver designs that exceed their expectations.

I pitched a follow up to a story we covered years ago about Uncle Nearest and Fawn Weaver. Once I received approval, I traveled to Tennessee to coordinate with crews to shoot an incredible story. I earned a News Feature Silver Telly in 2025.
I was the field producer for this really cool shoot at NASA's Johnson Space Center. Soledad O'Brien chatted with astronaut Christina Koch for a glimpse at what life will be like aboard the Orion spacecraft. I also produced additional content just for our social platforms to drive some of our highest engagement.
The show was looking for a big-name guest and I pitched our show to Roy Wood Jr. at the National Association of Black Journalist conference in 2024. He agreed to do the segment and it led to one of our highest rated episodes of season 9.
I was assigned this story, but it was up to me to make it all come together and hit home with the viewers. Because of the sensitive nature of the topic, I had to coordinate with the organization to find someone willing to share their story. I field produced this shoot including going inside the grocery store. Also, I worked with an editor during the post-production process.
Our show went on the road to South Carolina. Due to an emergency, I was asked to take the helm for the entire process. That meant carrying out the initial vision of the show while coordinating crews in the field. Once we wrapped on site, I worked with editors to complete the show. This is the entire episode.
I am proud of this segment. I caught wind of the Women's March happening before my executive producers. I convinced the to let me go. I attended with 2 camera people and an associate producer. I was allowed backstage to interview notable names while my AP covered the general crowd. I also worked on the post-production of this segment with an editor. I then booked guests for a live segment that aired after this piece.
